As the holidays approach, CDS will be making the holidays a little better for others with two employee-driven charitable giving campaigns.
“Our employees are extremely generous, and as a company, we are very passionate about working together to give back to the communities we serve,” says Catherine Welge, HR Manager.
The first holiday initiative is the company’s annual food drive in partnership with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, the state’s largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization. Close to 900,000 people in New Jersey face hunger every day, with a staggering 260,000 of them being children.
What started as a small collection box for employees to donate in the company’s kitchen just four years ago, has grown exponentially each year. This year CDS looks to beat last year’s collection amount of 200 lbs.
“Food insecurity exists in every county across the United States, from the poorest neighborhoods to the most affluent. Parents skip meals so they can feed their children, seniors choose between buying medicine and food, and students decide between their education and food. These tough choices are an unfortunate reality for many of our New Jersey neighbors.”

CDS will have collection bins for non-perishable food items at the company’s headquarters. The drive is set to begin at the end of October through November 15, just before Thanksgiving.

Following the food drive, beginning December 1, CDS will be an official Toys for Tots toy drop location. CDS will collect new, unwrapped toys at its main headquarters for direct donation to the Marine Toys for Tots program.
“The nature of our business is door to door, and we are always looking for ways that our own CDS family can give back to the families and children who need it most behind some of those doors,” says VP of Sales, Giovanni L. Rutigliano.
Each year, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey distributes 57,105,462 pounds of food to people struggling with hunger. The Food Bank directly supports the following counties: Atlantic, Bergen, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren.
